Our men in blue get a thumbs up

"I have been going an extra mile in the execution of my duties."

The hard work and dedication demonstrated by the Dobsonville police spokesperson constable Mzwakhe Xazi over the years was acknowledged at the Soweto West Cluster award ceremony held at Usambara in Muldersdrift on October 19.

The event was only opened for eight police stations from the Soweto West Cluster which were Dobsonville, Jabulani, Naledi, Protea Glen, Lenasia, Lenasia South, Moroka and Ennerdale. Xazi was awarded the SAPS Best Vispol of the year 2017-2018 and received a trophy in recognition of his efforts.

He said, “This award is a motivation to continue doing the great work I have been doing as a police officer.

“I have been going an extra mile in the execution of my duties. This award is an indication that someone has been watching my contribution. I promise not to stop but continue doing good work.

According to the tireless crime fighter, he appreciated the tremendous support he has been receiving from his colleagues, the Community Policing Forum (CPF) and his family, particularly his wife.

He urged his colleagues to continue working hard and setting an example for their fellow citizens in the communities which they serve.

“Police officers should continue working as a team and strive to uphold the law at all times. We should together work hard in eradicating corruption and changing the negative perception of police in communities. We should attempt to make our communities safe at all times,” said Xazi.

Captain Nelson Nemudzivhadi from the Dobsonville Police Station was also voted the best SAPS administrator of the year for the period 2017 to 2018.

Constable Lesley Mokotedi was voted the best reservist and the first runner-up was Thembi Ndlovu. The Dobsonville CPF was voted the first runner-up for the 2017/2018 period.
