Protea Glen police nab 2 believed to be shooters in Roodepoort murder
The pair are believed to be involved in the shooting death of a Roodepoort taxi driver and police are working round the clock to link the firearms found on them, to the murder.
Protea Glen police arrested two suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition on Thursday, October 25 in Protea City.
The two men, aged 32 and 35 respectively, were arrested after police received a be on the lookout alert for a white Toyota Corolla which is alleged to have been involved in a shooting incident the same afternoon in Roodepoort.
Police spotted the vehicle on Impala Road in Protea City and stopped the vehicle. After conducting a search of the car, and the two male occupants, they found two unlicensed firearms and a total of 22 rounds of ammunition.
The two men are alleged to have been involved in the murder of a taxi driver in Roodepoort and police are currently conducting an investigation to link the suspects to the murder.
The suspects appeared in Protea Magistrates’ Court last week on two charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of ammunition.
