Women take breast cancer drive to Diepkloof

Breast Cancer Awareness.

Most females, especially black women are more aware now of breast cancer and do take necessary precautions needed to prevent the curable disease according to Elsie Hlaba of Avon after they had a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in Diepkloof.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign took part to commemorate Breast awareness month during October and some of the ladies that took part in the campaign went to eat out at Nqaba’s One Love Lounge.

Aniki Letima said, “We had the campaign to make sure that the number of women who are aware of the breast cancer disease increases every year, and honestly, it seems like more women are concerned now about the disease than before.”

Hlaba said, “In actuality, every woman should know the importance of detecting breast cancer earlier because it is not a woman’s death sentence, but can be cured if and when detected early.”

The owner of Nqaba’s One Love Lounge in Diepkloof where the ladies were hosted after the awareness campaign, Nqaba Dongo explained that he agreed to host the ladies because he supports them and their health and wishes that all of the females are aware of this disease to prevent it.

Letima explained that Avon has been having the campaign for the past 13 years and she said that she likes the fact that women do not see the disease as a stigma any more and that many of them are more aware of it now.

Letima said, “Being aware of the disease increases chances of early detection and prevention.”
