‘A little less conversation, a little more action’

Sessions start at 8 am and ends at 9.30 am. The first hour is for aerobics and the last 30 minutes.

Promise Sibanyoni, who many people know as Pro, is a qualified aerobics instructor with big dreams for Eldorado Park and its surrounds.

Sibanyoni, who is originally from Pimville Ext 4, said that he didn’t always take care of himself, nor did he have any muscles, let alone any knowledge of fitness or the importance of eating well.

He said, “I started doing aerobics for fun, little did I know that it would change my life forever.

According to the avid aerobics instructor, before he started his fitness journey, his life was dull and stressful.

“I would stress about so many issues, most of which were beyond my control. I did not eat properly and that would decrease my energy levels drastically, I felt down all the time until I decided to work out one day,” he said.

“I won’t lie and say that this journey has been easy. There were times when I wanted to give up, but the one thing that kept me going was the promise I made to myself that I would put myself first and that I would stop breaking the promises I make to myself,” he added.

Sibanyoni started his aerobics classes a few years ago and said that he decided to start the sessions because he wanted to help other people heal and find their true selves.

“The one thing I always tell the people I train is that actions speak louder than words. If you talk, you’ll never get the results you want. Rather do what you planned and stop wasting time on talking about it,” he said.

Rosemary Johaneson (58) from Klipspruit said that she joined the aerobics classes just over three months ago and she has already seen her health improving.

“It is truly an honour to be here, surrounded by people who love themselves and who want to better themselves. I’ve learned a lot from Pro. My spine problems are a thing of the past, no more hospitals for me,” she said Lorna Kops said that her sleep pattern has changed since she joined the group her.

She said, “I could not sleep properly but lately I sleep so peacefully, there is something magical in exercising. fitness changed my life for the better. Pro is so good at what he does, he is involved and one can literally feel his passion for fitness.”

Sibanyoni hosts the aerobic sessions every week day at the Don Mateman Hall in Ext 5.

“My sessions start at 8am and ends at 9.30am. The first hour is for aerobics and the last 30 minutes we focus on toning,” he said.
