A year later and still no solution for Pimville gogo (79)

Neighbour fumes from leaking pipes.

Neighbourly feuds occur almost every day of our lives and sometimes they can prove ugly. Unfortunately, Theresa Ngubane (79) from Pimville Zone 2, is facing an arduous situation simply because of her neighbour’s leaking pipe that she says is making her life a living hell.

“My neighbour’s pipe has been leaking since last year March, yet she still seems to be dragging her feet in finding the solution to this problem, it is also affecting me as her next door neighbour. It has caused a huge damage as the wall that separates our yards is about to fall because it has some cracks and its foundation is lose,” said Ngubane.

Ngubane alleged that she tried getting a hold of the relevant departments to help her deal with this matter but the neighbour does not allow anyone to enter the premises, which is making it a hassle for the leaking pipe to be fixed.

“I pleaded with her for a couple of times, in a peaceful manner for her to open her gate, but my neighbour still refused to open the gate,” said Ngubane.

The leaking water pipe seem to have caused fungi, some flood and it is unhealthy more especially in summer because it attracts mosquitoes.

“Johannesburg Water went to the house for more than two times but there is still no response from my neigbour. Our plea is for the owner to open the gate because the situation has turned in to a health hazard,” she added.

Ngubane also seeks for assistance from the community to solve this matter as the situation is out of control. Leaking pipes can cause major problems for an entire household if ignored long enough to wreck and cause extreme havoc.

The after effects may be; poor water quality, warped and stained walls, invasive black mould and end up costing a fortune to repair damaged stuff on the entire household as the damage could lower the value of your home.

To confirm whether an occupant was at the address, Pimville Urban News reporter visited the home, knocked but there was no answer. It seems as if nobody stays there. Unless somebody gains access to the premise, the water will continue leak.
