20 girls battle it out for the Miss Soweto 2018 Crown
Who will be crowned the next queen of Soweto?
We are getting closer to crowning the next queen of Soweto. After months of auditioning and preparation, twenty of the most beautiful and intelligent girls from across Soweto have made the cut to compete for the Miss Soweto 2018 title, it was a tough decision for the judges. The semi-finals to select the top twenty ladies took place on Saturday, October 6 at Maponya Mall.
Semi-finals event showcased 40 contestants who were given an opportunity to parade their talent in front of the judges and the excited crowd, each contestant had their moment to introduce themselves and answer one question from the judges.
The MC for the day was South Africa’s Radio and TV personality Refiloe Motsei. Sponsored by White Star Maize Meal, this iconic pageant was established in 1979 and was created to bring awareness to the women of Soweto.
Leading up to the finals, the 20 finalists will go through an intense period of coaching, rehearsals, public appearances and judging which is aimed at preparing them for the big stage.
These ladies will compete at the glitzy final on December 1, at the Soweto Theatre to decide who takes the Miss Soweto 2018 Crown. Good luck to all of them.
