Gas cylinder flies across road and hits child, leaving her critical
Paramedics treated the girl and provided her with advanced life support interventions.
A 14-year-old girl was left critically injured last night after she was hit by a gas cylinder on Ontdekkers Road in Newlands, West of Johannesburg.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 17h45 to find the young girl lying on the sidewalk. Assessment showed that the girl had sustained serious injuries to both of her legs and was in a critical condition.
Paramedics treated the girl and provided her with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the girl was transported to Helen Joseph Provincial Hospital for urgent treatment.
It is understood that men had been working on the cylinder across the road at a scrapyard. A problem occurred with the cylinder, causing it to fly across the road and strike the girl.
The local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
