The newly revamped Black Legends Pub in Eldorado Park Extension Three has had its share of bad press over the years, and the management are going the extra mile to ensure that it maintains its reputation for being the go-to venue for music lovers.

Known fondly as ‘Die Stoep’, it has become the hangout spot for locals who could not contain their pleasure when local band, ‘Fully Loaded’ treated patrons to an impromptu concert this past Saturday.

The live band’s front man, Alwin ‘Mr Keyz’ Botha said that the five-member ensemble was formed about five months ago and had their fist gig at this year’s Easter Rand Show.

A veteran on the local band scene, Botha has been in the business for the past 23 years, is an accomplished solo guitarist who runs a recording studio and music school from The Lighthouse Church in Kiaat Street, Extension Three.

While patrons enjoyed the silky vocal stylings of singer, Dalene Jonkers, the band came alive as Botha strummed a few chords, having the crowd eating out of the palm of his hands. Drummer Curtis ‘C-drum’ Van Wyk played up a storm and wowed the growing crowd with his drumming.

Bass guitarist Nickolas ‘Mr Groove’ Karools and keyboardist Immanuel ‘Crazy Keyz’ did not let the listeners down and the enjoyment of providing entertainment to the patrons was written on their faces.

Botha said, “All these musicans you see here are passionate about music and as a band, we hope to change the narrative of Eldorado Park by showing everyone out there that good does come out of Eldos.”

According to Botha, the band are planning a tour of South Africa and what sets them apart, is the seamless way in which they perform, and this is a sure-fire way to have crowds clamouring for an encore.

This was certainly the case as the music lovers begged for one more performance before the group packed up their equipment to head to another gig.

Botha added, “We are ready to perform at ll types of functions and are committed to discovering new talent.”
