Protea Glen’s very own Hope Chiango has been shortlisted as a top 100 semi-finalist for Miss South Africa Teen Ambassador 2018 and she needs the community’s help to make it to the next round.
The Miss Teen Ambassador semi-finalist needs a business that will sponsor her for the pageant and get a return on their investment in the form of advertising throughout her stay in the pageant.
The 19-year-old entered the pageant when she came across it on Instagram and immediately knew that she fit the criteria of what the judges are looking for. Entering this pageant has taught Chiango many valuable lessons.

“I attended a workshop shortly after I got the news that I was shortlisted and it was really eye-opening. It changed my perspective of pageants, I used to think it’s just about looking pretty but there is real work involved in it,” Chiango explained.
She describes herself as someone who is adamant about becoming a beacon of hope and inspiration for everyone who comes from a place similar to where she comes from.
“I want to show people that it’s possible to come from Protea Glen and be a part of something like this. I want to show that your background doesn’t matter but it’s more about where you’re going,” Chiango said.

Winning Miss Teen ambassador would give Chiango a platform to advocate for the fact that all dreams are important and valid and should be treated as such, she says.
The pageant was created to give teens such as Hope who would typically not have such opportunities and is in its first year.
The pageant is inclusive as it is for teenagers of all races and body sizes, it aims to encourage young women to celebrate themselves and inspire others with their confidence in themselves.
