Free2Dance – ‘My world needs You’

Warren Stuart the founder of Free2Dance speaks to us about their first Johannesburg ‘My World needs You’ Production. Free2Dance is a dance network which collaborates with children and the youth through creative arts.
The network is currently active in Port Elizabeth, Johannesburg, East London and they are working on starting a group in Durban.
“Through Free2Dance our vision is to equip and educate the kids on creative arts. We do know that a lot of kids do not have the luxury of sports anymore and we also hope that through the creative arts we will be able to also take kids off the streets,” said Stuart.
Stuart believes that the church needs to be in control of creative arts and through this organisation they glorify Christ.
Free2Dance was established in 2001 in Port Elizabeth and they have been in Johannesburg for the past two years busy with conferences and workshops for children.
When asked about the theme ‘My world needs you’, Stuart explained: “Every year our productions would have a specific theme and through this one, every single song has a meaning behind it and they grouped together.
“It doesn’t matter who you are or where you from, or what age group you fit into, when you leave the production we want people to leave there with the thought ‘My world needs Jesus Christ’ so that’s the message behind the theme.”

The production currently has 90 dancers from around from Eldorado Park, Florida, Noordgesig, Riverlea, Rosettenville, and Ennerdale. Stuart said that this production is the first of its kind and is totally different.
“I know that people are familiar with going to church and seeing a dance but this is totally different because of the props that we will be using, the videography, the stage setting, the guest artists that are going to be there, everything will fit into each other,” he added.
