Protea Glen’s Muntu ‘Sponch Makhekhe’ Maseko and Kelebogile ‘DJ Trendy L’ Moepi dropped their latest collaboration single in August and it’s set to rock the airwaves this summer.
The single titled ‘khona uzo lahleka’ is the second single from DJ Trendy L’s debut album. The renowned DJ is working with on more tracks with Sponch Makhekhe as the pair make a great team.
The pair describes the track as a party love song as it is a fun track inspired by the shenanigans that take place at parties. “We were at a party and then my friend met a girl he liked who he then went home with. They are now in a relationship so the song was inspired by that,” Sponch Makhekhe explained.
DJ Trendy L’s journey with house music started when her partner introduced her to the genre almost a decade ago. Her love for the genre grew organically and she eventually decided to enroll at the Soul Candi Institute of Music.
Her debut album later is set to be released this year which will feature 11 tracks to represent the fact that she has been in the game for the past 11 years according to Sponch Makhekhe. Four of the tracks will feature Sponch Makhekhe and he is also credited as one of the writers on the album.
The duo recently shot the music video for the single which is set to premier on MTV Base at the end of September. “The visuals are clean; people can expect fun and a bit of romance from the video. It’s a gangster love type of thing,” said Sponch Makhekhe.
The single, which was produced by J-Logic, can currently be accessed on all digital platforms.
