Recyclers are entrepreneurs

Recycle smart

A class for the people in our communities who earn a living from recycling was held this past week at the Welfare Centre in Diepkloof.

They were educated on how to make revenue from their recycling, like true entrepreneurs.
Basics were taught around for the attendees of the class like how to recycle right and lucratively.
Anele Sololo from Paper Recycling Association of South Africa (PRASA) spoke about how they pride themselves in educating and coaching communities about recycling.

Wandile Matsau teaches the class about recycling.

Sololo said, “We promote recycling and we coach on it in various communities to make recyclers realise the fact that they are entrepreneurs and to see how their recycling is a business that can create an income.”

One recycler and entrepreneur who takes her business seriously is Mokgoetji Thabitha Lunga who came all the way from Limpopo to attend the business class.

Wandile Matsau from the Glass Recycling Company broke recycling down to the attendees of the class, from the different types of glass to the way in which the glass should be crushed and separated.
Matsau said, “Never crush your glasses too fine because that may get your package disqualified. I came to teach you facts and the right ways to recycle so that you can make it work for yourself and teach others.”
Lunga said, “From Limpopo I just came to collect data about recycling, and I have learned so much so far.”
