Road to crowning Mr and Miss Little Soweto

Mr and Miss Little Soweto finale will be taking place at the Soweto Theatre on September 2.

The Mr and Miss Little Soweto finale will be taking place at the Soweto Theatre on September 2 following a successful Protea Glen and Dobsonville leg of the pageant in August.

The pageant saw well known day care centres in the Protea Glen area such as the Joe Gqabi Integrated daycare centre and Ubuntu Day Care.

The pageant was supported by many parents who were shocked at the confidence exuded by their children at the pageant according to Oscar Mabuza, Little Soweto Event Manager.

“Some principals and parents had taken this initiative slightly however they were shocked after witnessing their kids showcasing with confidence on stage,” said Mabuza.

The two instalments of the pageant which took place at Jabulani Pace Commercial Hall on two consecutive weekends respectively boasted star-studded judges such as Peter Sephuma, who is best known for his role as Miles Vilakazi on Rhythm City.

The second event, which included day cares from Orlando, Meadowlands and Naledi extension two had individuals such as Faith Nketsi as judges.

The pageant did not just focus on the children but also on their principals. Mapule Mehlape, principal of Powerful Day Care won the most committed principal of 2018, she was awarded a Swedish massage voucher for her tireless commitment.

The event on September will see the official crowning of Mr and Miss Little Soweto 2018. One of the main prizes is a full year’s school fees for the winners of the pageant among other things.

“Day cares that wish to participate with us next year are invited to come and witness the final event at Soweto Theatre so they can have more view on this initiative,” Mabuza concluded.
