Spend a few Rands towards a worthy cause

People who would like make donations to the critically ill in the hospital can visit the Soweto Hospice Shop in Diepkloof, or call 011 985 0158.

The Hospice Shop in Diepkloof was opened to provide financial assistance to their Houghton hospital where terminally  ill patients in need of palliative care from across South Africa are housed. They would love  Soweto communities to help them help the patients by donating to the shop.

They collect everything from second-hand clothes to furniture and shoes to sell and generate an income to make things a bit easier for their patients.

Phindile Magazi who works at the shop,  said, “It is always a delight to see the customers walk in the shop and find what they need at very low prices.”
The growth they have experienced since their opening on July 28 last year has been an encouraging sign, according to Magazi.

Priscilla Modipa and Phindile Magaza love working with people.

Another employee, Priscilla Modipa, said that she  enjoys the job and the responsibility because she is passionate about helping people. She said, “It has been a great experience for me, especially because here I get to serve the people while I lend a helping hand.”

The pair sell second-hand clothing and previously owned items like glasses and books, at an affordable price.  Magazi added that even though they collect these, they urge people to donate decent articles of clothing.

“I love people and desire to help them all the time. I have been in the retail industry for a long while now and it really makes me happy whenever I get to serve them and they get affordable, quality articles of clothing,” she said.

Their growth is an indication that the items are of quality and the profits generated are used for a worthy cause.
