Transporting eager young minds to a whole new world

Learners at the school said their new library has made reading more fun and interesting.

A recent educational revamp at the Heerengracht Primary School in Eldorado Park has been welcomed by both staff and pupils at the school.

In recent weeks, many things have changed at the school library, with brand new reading books, dictionaries, educational charts and textbooks which were donated to the school.

A reading mat and pillows have been placed in the library to encourage comfortability when reading. Tables and chairs have been placed in the centre of the library so pupils can do school work easily and comfortably.

Heerengracht librarian, Aveline Mofokeng said that the beautiful resource centre was a gift to the school.

“It was a Mandela Day project and we are so grateful to Hyundai, Imperial and Ukhamba for making all of this possible for our learners. They love their new library,” said Mofokeng.

The staff at the school are in agreement that the library can now easily assist learners with reading.

“Not only can the learners focus on mastering reading, but the resource centre makes lessons so much more interesting. A television has been mounted on the wall and learners can now watch and participate in practical lessons. We all know how youngsters enjoy television,” she added.

“There are so many books for us to choose from. Library time is my favourite, it’s like I’m in another world when I am there,” said Bentley.
