Late comers believe ‘better late than never’

"Life is inspirational, young people are doing well and opportunities are there for those who are willing to risk it."

Protea Glen duo, Kagiso ‘El’ kg’ Mojanaga (33) and Sechaba ‘Craze Chaxlaz’ Sekese (35), are ready to rock the airwaves with their latest single titled ‘Hata Ntho Eo’.

The single, according to the duo, is about being fearless, hype and in control. “It’s a fresh turn up temp groove that motivates everyone to be courageous,” said Craze Chaxlaz.

Craze Chaxlaz knew he was going to do music from a young age as he started singing since his high school days, it was however not quite as simple for El’ kg who only caught on to the music at a later stage.

Craze Chaxlaz and El’kg say they want to inspire people of all ages.

The twosome, who are also cousins, are also currently busy working on their debut album which will be titled ‘Late Comers’ and is set to be released before the year ends.

The title, according to the duo, alludes to the fact that they came into the music industry late and want to inspire others to go for their dreams regardless of their age.

The 12 track album will include other tracks from the two such as Zimpipi, Zero, Ngubo enamehlo and Gwara Gwara. Craze Chaxlaz believes that, despite popular belief, kwaito music is still alive and well in South Africa.

“Kwaito is not dead, all those who believe it is simply have not heard our music and single. I believe kwaito artists are not given a chance to do their thing just like hip-hop artists before; we need producers to open doors of possibilities and give us the freedom to do what we love “kwaito”, said Craze Chaxlaz.

The cousins, however, face the difficulty of balancing their jobs and working together from different locations as El’kg is currently employed in the North West province and thus lives there while Craze Chaxlaz is based in Protea Glen.

They started working together in 2017 and have since achieved great feats such as sharing a stage with popular acts such as Busiswa and Ms Cosmo to mention a few.

The duo say they are making music to inspire both young and old people as their music caters to both age groups. Craze Chaxlaz believes that in order to get where you want to be you need to take risks and be willing to work hard.
