OR & LG give back to the Orlando community

Nelson Mandela legacy is entrenched in each and every SA citizen.

July 24, was indeed a fun-filled day for the youth as LG Electronics South Africa and Orlando Pirates held their first development project for aspiring soccer stars.

The main purpose of the initiative is to give back to the community and to nature talented children that will represent the Buccaneers one day. Media Officer of Orlando Pirates Thandi Morafe testified that it was a heartwarming occasion that was filled with fun activities.

Three schools in Orlando namely: Thabisang Primary School, Mzamo Primary, and Mbuyisa Makhubo received a donation of 43 inch LG FHD Television set.



Morafe added that in the spirit of the late Tata Nelson Mandela they also had a motivational talk with children from Ikageng Orphanage.

Developing and sharpening talents in soccer is the priority and vision of the Department of Sport and Recreation.

“Orlando Pirates inspires young South Africans who understand that being successful requires hard work both on and off the field, preparation, and complete enthusiasm,” said Antonio dos Santos, General Manager of Consumer Electronics, LG South Africa.

Dos Santos explained that their partnership with one of the biggest soccer teams in SA is the perfect way to work towards the countries vision to unite and build a proud nation that does not only focus on the beauty of the game but also the surrounding people.

He added that the Nelson Mandela legacy is entrenched in each and every SA citizen that has made real life-changing opportunities for our consumers. The ‘Buccaneers’, have played a vital role in developing soccer players locally in the history of soccer.

“At the core of this legacy is harnessing the passion for children and teaching what it means to have an active lifestyle, be a champion, even if it’s just for a day in the same way the beloved Buccaneer fans support the team on the field when the pressure is on,” dos Santos concluded.
