Rapper Prokid dies at 37
Tributes pour in following the passing of one of SA’s greatest rappers.
Soweto and the whole country has woken up to the shocking news of the passing of its beloved hip hop artist. Linda “Prokid” Mkhize passed away on Wednesday 8th of August following seizure attack. According to a statement released by his family, Prokid passed away at about 20:30 last night.
“He suffered a seizure attack whilst visiting friends. Paramedics were called in to assist. They did their best to revive him to no avail,” reads the statement from the family.
Prokid who was also known as the number one Soweto Boy bust into the local hip hop scene in 2005 with his debut album titled Heads and Tails.
He later changed his name to just Pro when he was no longer a kid. Local hip hop fans hailed Pro as one of the best kasi rappers and the pioneers of SA hip hop. He is survived by his mother, father, his three year or daughter, wife and brothers.
