Vuwani High in Chiawelo gets a facelift

Lurco's mission to revamp local schools well on the road.

In a mission to revamp and keep local schools clean, Lurco Mining has embarked on a campaign to paint toilets at Vuwani Secondary School. The purpose of embarking upon such an activity was to give back to the community and encourage learners to live a healthy lifestyle.

The Lurco employees went to the school wearing their overalls and went on to do painting in the school’s toilets which were messy and made them be in a spotless situation.

The school’s principal, Joseph Baloyi was excited about the initiative saying he is hoping that the relationship between the school and Lurco will go a long way in improving cleanliness.

“This initiative will also teach learners not to vandalise the school’s property since they are the ones using the facility.

“I am glad that Lurco has come forward to help us with the situation and we will ensure that our school is kept clean every day,” said Baloyi.

As an entrepreneurial, emerging resources company, Lurco is committed to building a commercially successful business that adds sustainable value to shareholders through broad engagement with the societies and economies as well as the human and natural environments in which it operates.

To this end, Lurco is both a driver and a credible exemplar of the demographic, social and environmental transformation of mining in South Africa.
