WATCH: Evictions at Fleurhof are underway

Homeless!

Following a protest by Meadowlands residents who wanted to occupy the flats in Fleurhof, evictions got underway this Monday afternoon. Red ants were spotted all over Fleurhof.

Our Meadowlands journalist who’s on the scene tried to get a comment from the Red Ants who said, “The illegal occupants were served with letters of evictions a long time ago.”

Although some occupants claim that they didn’t receive the letters, Red Ants stopped at nothing as people’s belongings were taken out to the streets.

According to one of the victims, Lala Tlalang, they have been staying there for more than a year and says that their right of having a roof over their heads is been violated.

Lindi Dunno said his cousin Motseki Phara was evicted and is more painful is that her cousin is disabled and claims he is the legal occupant of the flat.

“Why do they have to vandalise and terrorise us like this? These flats were given to us by the government,” said Dunno.
