Extension One dumpsite gets a face lift on Nelson Mandela Day

The Environmentorz would like to encourage all Eldos residents to start taking ownership of all the illegal dumpsites in surrounding areas so we can have a greener and cleaner environment.

The Environmentorz, with the help of Extension One residents, spent their 67 minutes cleaning up an illegal dumpsite on the corner of Comet and Concord Roads. “It was really heartwarming to see so many residents coming out to help the team with the cleanup,” said Environmentorz chairperson, Brynmor Coolman. The team also encouraged residents to take ownership of that land so that it does not turn into an illegal dumpsite again. “It is up to us to sustain the area we live in,” he said.

The Environmentorz suggested that residents start a community vegetable garden which would help to sustain the community. “Many of the residents are unemployed and the vegetable garden will help them feed their families and even generate an income for them.” said Coolman. The team offered training, education and awareness to Extension One residents before they start their vegetable garden. Seeds will be provided by the Environmentorz team after training and education has been completed.

Residents joined in the cleanup to give the area a face lift.
