#MandelaMonth: 14-year-old’s tribute poem to Tata

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela
Tata
The spear of the nation
The salt of the earth
Tata
You fought for our freedom although the journey was tough but you kept on fighting
You were a warrior
A lion in a jungle of wolves
Madiba they were all waiting for your return
But they never knew the torture you went through
27 years later a hero was released
Free at last
You raised your fist with power
You were a Phoenix
Tata
The day you blew your last breath
It felt like spears through our chests
Words stuck in our throats
Our bodies weakened
A warrior had left us
A legend has gone
The day your lifeless corpse lay before us
Our voices seemed to cease
But our hearts set at ease
Tata
You were more than words can describe
Although you are gone
Your memory lives
Forever in our hearts
Your voice still echoes in our minds
We cry for a soul like you to return
But our hearts set at ease
For an angel watches over us
Lala kahle Tata
