People with disabilities are not spared the rampant crime affecting the community as the Mizondo Specialised School for people with disabilities became the latest victim of crime in Dobsonville.
The incident happened just a few days after Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga warned criminals to refrain from vandalising and committing crimes in public schools.

The minister called for a harsher punishment to be meted out to offenders found guilty of such crimes. Despite Motshekga’s public comment, a 37-years-old man was arrested for stealing a stepladder at Mezodo Specialised School in Dobsonville last Tuesday.
According to the Dobsonville Police Station spokesperson, constable Mzwakhe Xazi, the Dobsonville Community Policing Forum (DCPF) saw the suspect illegally entering the school premises last Tuesday morning about 6.45 am.
Xazi said, “The suspect gained entry through a broken palisade fence in the morning. A few minutes later, he came out of the school premises allegedly carrying the stepladder taken from the school.
“Members of the DCPF apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the local police officers.”
He said the suspect will appear before the Roodepoort Magistrate Court to face charges of theft and added that police were still investigating.
Constable Xazi applauded the work done of the DCPF in fighting crime within their police precinct.
