Lee-Andre Newton reunited with her family

The Kirkman family are able to breathe a sigh of relief after the missing teen was found unharmed yesterday in neighbouring Claremont.

UPDATE:

The Kirkman family are breathing a sigh of relief after missing teen Lee-Andre Newton disappeared from their Bosmont home on July 2.

Reports have surfaced which indicate that Newton was found unharmed in neighbouring Claremont yesterday.

The Kirkman family from Bosmont were frantic with worry after the disappearance yesterday of their daughter, 15-year-old Lee-Andre Newton.

According to the missing child’s foster father, James Kirkman, Lee-Andre disappeared from her Bosmont home on July 2 between 3 pm and 7 pm.

Kirkman said, “There were no arguments which we believe could have led to her leaving the home. She was with my wife for the better part of the morning and accompanied her to the SARS offices, after which they visited me at my place of work.”

He continued to say that, on his return home from work, he watched television, assuming that Lee-Andre and her sister were in their bedroom.

Lee-Andre Newton has been reunited with her family.

Only when his wife had finished dishing up supper for the family, did they notice that the youngster was not in her room. By this time (about 7 pm), James had left for choir practice at his church and about 15 minutes later, his wife alerted him to Lee-Andre’s disappearance.

The Roodepark School learner was wearing a black-and-white jacket, blue jeans and black takkies at the time of her disappearance. The overwrought family lodged a missing person’s report at the Sophiatown Police Station and community organisations like the Bosmont Community Patrollers and others joined hands in ensuring that she was returned home safely.
