Diepkloof residents picket for Batho Pele at Diepkloof Police Station

Batho Pele, connecting communities.

Diepkloof residents have been complaining about the level of service at the Diepkloof SAPS claiming that it was not up to standard, in line with the ‘People First’ principle.

DA MP, Tsepo Mhlongo, has intervened on behalf of the people and while at it, he visited the police station. The DA were picketing against what they considered to be a crippling lack of leadership at the station. The picketers are of the opinion that a lack of resources is rendering the station unable to fight crime.

Makashule Gana, another member of parliament who joined the demonstrators, said, “We are all about the safety of our people and we believe in Batho Pele.”

Young and old gathered at the police station to hand over a memorandum of demands. The Diepkloof police spokesperson, captain Phephi Matlou Mteto said, “All the demands will be rightly addressed and given attention.”

She added that any matter which the station is unable to assist with will be escalated to the appropriate department to be handled.
