#SABiggestBreakfast campaign benefits local schools

White Star helps learners get a good start to their day with breakfast.

White Star Super Maize Meal visited Ebuhleni Junior Primary School last week Thursday as part of their giving back campaign.
Starting off as a record setting event, White Star recently hosted an event where about 800 participants set a porridge eating record.
Featuring the current Miss Soweto  Busisiwe Mmotla as the honorary guest of the day, the campaign managed to feed about 200 pupils from the school.

The idea is that for each bowel eaten at the event, White Star committed itself to donate 1kg of white Star porridge to a school.
Along with other brands, they feed 26000 kids across the country.
White Start being the biggest maize brand in S.A, they wanted to go a step feather and do something on top of that they want to continue giving back

“If you look at the areas where the biggest breakfast took place being Soweto and KZN, you will notice that it’s some of the places that White Star has its biggest following, so it’s important for the brand to give back to the people who buy from them and contribute to the growth of the brand.

“We are at the stage where the main event has happened and 778 people from Umlaza and 800 from Soweto and all these people were eating at the same time while people in Joburg got to see what was happening in KZN and vice versa.

“So now we have all these products to donate after reaching our target and so we have been going to schools in Soweto and in KNZ throughout the week.

“So after what we did, we realised that it’s not about that we donated and then that’s it, we want to find different ways we can continue giving back.

“So at this school we have been having the breakfast but we will also be leaving a supply that will continue to last the school’s feeding scheme,” said Amavu Kamana from White Star.

Before the day of the event, the schools visited include Luyolo Senior Primary, Isu’Lihle Senior Primary and Ebuhleni Primary.
These schools were chosen by Miss Soweto 2017 because it was her way of ploughing back to schools that contributed to shaping her.
“Through this handover, I hope that learners from these schools will be motivated to take their education serious to achieve their goals. I am grateful to all the schools that welcomed us.

“Today was a special day, going back to a school where I learned how to read and write was gratifying.
I am happy that my teachers are proud of me and what I have achieved,” said Miss Soweto.
