The Greater Eldorado Park Youth Skills Development Centre (GEPYSDC) is committed to positively and effectively changing the lives of the youth.

The centre is based in Eldorado Park, Extension Six and offers a range of courses to equip youngsters with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their desired career path.

There are a number of services on offer at the centre, like CV typing and photography, scanning and emailing facilities, career guidance, life skills, social programmes, welding courses, computers course and many more.

The centre has recently launched its newest programme which is an online business entrepreneurial course which needs to be completed over an eight week period.

According to a GEPYSDC, Jamil August, the online course is very effective and easy to use. “It makes work so much easier for our students, they can access modules, study material and classroom discussions in the comfort of their home. All they need is a positive data balance,” said August.

The online business entrepreneurial programme consists of seven core modules which include: creative problem solving, business planning and tendering, basic financial accounting, financing a new venture, action planning, human resources and strategic planning.

All modules and any form of assessment are expected to be completed online hence the decreasing traffic at the centre in Extension Six.

“We have facilitators who will be working with and assessing each and every student. They will make sure all questions that students may have will be answered in order for them progress,” said August.

The GEPYSDC will only be accepting the first 50 people who register for the programme. The community is invited to register at the centre as soon as possible.

A commitment fee of R250 is charged for interested applicants. George Dickson is the facilitator of the online programme an potential students need to ask for him at the centre.
