Fusing talent to create beauty

"I started taking my music seriously when I started working with a band and we started performing at Tavern in Maponya Mall.

Taking a brave stand in the music industry is, Zanele Khumalo is making her mark by bringing back the old with a new feel.

Born and raised in Soweto, Zanele is a soulful artist from Jabulani who already has two international remixes under her belt and she hasn’t even released an album yet.

She formally started her music career two years ago when she started playing at formal shows although she has no musical training.

“I started taking my music seriously when I started working with a band and we started performing at Tavern in Maponya Mall.

“Since then I have found my musical identity and what I have realised is that I’m a hopeless romantic and musical taste says it all.

“I grew up listening to the like of Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and the likes and I have never stopped loving this kind of music.

“My inspiration behind listening to this kind of music is to try and bring it back to fashion and make it relevant again because I want to give people the kind of feeling I get when I also listen to that music,” said Z.

Currently, Z is working on promoting a track she has released titled ‘get back to love’, which had gained some traction online and even gotten a remix.

Added to that, Z will soon be doing a music video to her new single titled ‘Love is all I feel’, which will be one of the lead songs to the album she is currently working on.
