The Communities RDP Houses Forum, Mayoral Corruption Unit and Human Settlement Unit are well underway with the investigations to remove corrupt people who have been taking bribes to allocate people illegally in the RDP houses.
The investigations have proved fruitful as one of the applicants, Zodwa Mthimkhulu, who has applied for a house since 1991 will finally get into her home soon. This comes after investigations were made by the organisations and it was found that Mthimkhulu’s house is in Bramfischer.
“I am very happy that the organisations have helped me to find out what has happened about my house since I have received an allocation letter.

“I have been going to the housing department and all along and I was told that my name did not appear in the database but with the help of the organisations, finally I know what has been happening all along,” said Mthimkhulu.
She said investigations proved that her house is in Bramfischer and there are people living in it illegally and she will be happy to be allocated to her house after such a long time.
Community leader and Communities RDP Housing forum member, Moalosi Mathopa who has been trying hard to help those who have since been waiting for their houses but yet to be allocated, said it is all thanks to the special investigating unit from the Mayoral office.
“Mthimkhulu’s house was traced and illegal occupants are staying there with thanks to the corruption of an illegal housing worker. As such, removals and arrests are imminent. With this space, hundreds of denied applicants are going to be assisted,” said Mathopa.
The organisations are trying hard to help those people who have documents that say they have houses but yet to be allocated and will continue to do so, that according to Mathopa.
The selling of RDP houses has become a big issue and residents are up in arms saying that most people living in those houses were allocated due to bribery. Some people have applied for the houses since 1996 and are still waiting to be allocated.
