A helping hand for our youth

Café has introduced an online application system for students to apply to tertiary institutions.

The Teez Internet Café has introduced an online application which has become mandatory for most students applying to tertiary institutions to further their studies.

Many South Africans are facing a flood of socio-economic and, as a result, a large percentage of the youth are unemployed and cannot afford a personal computer with internet.

This means that hundreds of poor youth are excluded from mainstream education in the country.

Simphiwe Siwundla and Nthabiseng Makau are serious about their futures.

In light of this, Joe Seboge established the Online Application Centre in Dobsonville to aid destitute learners and make these resources available to them.

He said, “We apply on behalf of these students to two institutions. Our responsibility is to check the applicants’ statuses and to upload all the necessary documentation as required by these institutions.”

Their centre also provides students with course information at a number of institutions across the country.

They also assist with applications for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) on behalf of the youth and check the status of their applications on a regular basis.

“We apply for bursaries for pupils and also do regular visits to local schools to give learners career guidance. This has been an ongoing process since 2015 and we constantly remind the Grade 12 learners about the importance of the August to November period.

“Every year in Agust, the NSFAS registration process starts and ends in November. It is unfortunate that former president Jacob Zuma announced the introduction of free tertiary education in December last year after the NSFAS application process was already closed,” said Seboge.

Their offices are based at Ndingiliza shop number 55 on the corner of Motsoaledi and Main Roads in Dobsonville.
