“This is the best birthday celebration I have ever had” – Palesa

Palesa had the happiest of birthdays.

It was back in 2007 when Maponya Mall, Nido and Caxton Urban Newspapers ran a baby competition, which saw over 1000 babies registered.

With the help of various shops at the mall, who sponsored the competition with various items, the competition was a huge success. It was divided into three categories, zero to six months, seven to twelve months and one to three years category.

Palesa Mokome from Moletsane, who was six months old at that time was crowned the winner of the zero to six months category, winning R10 000 worth of voucher. Maponya Mall was opened during that year, thus, this year the mall is 11 years old and so is Palesa.

You probably remember the baby show that was held at Maponya Mall, but you wouldn’t recognise Palesa if you were to see her, she’s all grown up now.

On Saturday, June 9, Palesa celebrated her birthday with her family and friends at Spur, Maponya Mall.

According to her mother, Brenda Mokome, the competition is one of the best memories she has ever made with her lovely daughter when she was still a baby and celebrating her birthday at this mall brought back the joy she had when she won the competition. Palesa said that she appreciates what her mom has done for her.

“These are priceless moments, this is the best birthday celebration I have ever had because it brought back all the beautiful memories mom had about the little me.

“I really appreciate her effort in making me this happy, she is the best mother a child can ever ask for. I am also grateful for all my friends and family, who made this day memorable and fun for me,” said Palesa.

Palesa continued to say that she will make her mother proud, by working hard in school, because what makes every parent happy seeing her child succeed.
