Arts, dance and music an escape for Senaoane children

He said they have no funding at the moment, but they are doing their best to visit other organisations for the children to remain motivated.

In a mission to reduce hate crimes against women and children,  Senaoane residents have embarked on organising an after school project to get children active and educated. The project is called the Community Rise Uthando Cultural Group. The group deals with poetry, drama , acting, cultural dance and education.

Group director, Nhlanhla Tshabalala says they formed the organisation to keep children away from loitering since there are women and children abuse and teenage pregnancy, among other things, that affect children as they grow up.

“We are trying to help children not to fall into those traps, hence we have formed these activities.
“We also take children to motivational shows so that they can be inspired and engage during these events,” said Tshabalala.

He said the group was formed last month and since they started, they have many children joining in different activities and they are getting developed.
“I have been involved in community building and my aim is to keep children away from the streets and get them involved in activities and shape their lives.
“We need more children and for them to join they will see change and advice others to join in and we are aiming to reduce crime in our area through such activities,” said Tshabalala.
