Protea Glen cops making progress in fighting drug dealers

Police report supplied by Protea Glen police.

Police in Protea Glen are making inroads in dealing with the drug problem that has been plaguing the area as they arrested two suspects on possession and suspected dealing of drugs in the area last week.

The suspects, aged 22 and 30, were arrested in extension 11 at Nkosi Johnson Park after the police patrolled the area and identified a group of suspicious looking men according to Sergeant Vincent Mashiteng.

The men proceeded to run away when they saw the police, they, however, gave chase and caught the suspects.

“Police found the 20-year-old suspect in possession of 20 small bags containing nyaope while the 30-year-old suspect was found in possession of 18 bags of the same substance,” said Sergeant Mashiteng.

Both men were also found with an undisclosed amount of money. They appeared in Protea Magistrates Court on charges of dealing with drugs last week.

In a similar incident during the same week, police arrested a 42-year-old suspect on a charge of drug dealing. This came after police received a tip-off about a man selling dagga in his Glenridge home in Protea Glen.

Upon following up on the tip-off police searched the house and found 51 small plastic bags containing dagga and an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect appeared at Protea Magistrates Court this week on charges of drug dealing.
