Man shot several times in Westbury

A case of attempted murder has been opened.

Yesterday, at 3:55 pm, a man was shot at the Westbury Sports Grounds in Florida street, Westbury.

According to Sophiatown police communications officer, Jerbes de Bruyn, the victim was standing next to a friend’s car when he noticed a man coming through an opening in the perimeter fence walking towards the car.

“This man suddenly pulled out a silver coloured pistol and cocked it, the gun jammed twice and on the third occasion he managed to fire three shots at the victim who was standing next to the car,” said the officer.

De Bruyn explained that the victim was shot in the abdomen and his friend rushed to his side to assist and managed to get someone to take him to hospital. A case of attempted murder has been opened.
