Seniors get money wise at Diepkloof Welfare Centre

The new smart shopper card has a wealth of savings in store for the elderly who have to stretch their finances.


The Diepkloof Senior Citizens Club and other seniors citizens clubs sat down to learn more about the new smart shopper card and the benefits they have in store for the elderly’s finances at the Welfare Centre in Diepkloof.

Deliwe Nhlapho joined the seniors  to hear about the benefits the new smart shopper card has in store for the elderly.

Tsatsi Tlhabanelo of Success SA said, “We have come to let the people from the community know about the new smart shopper cards on offer by Pick n Pay and the benefits that are embedded with the card for buying in bulk and saving.”

Reginald Mazibuko of Joe Gqabi from Protea Glen said, “You see, our club keeps the old people fit and informed about most queries and keep people informed about the environment.”

Reginald Mazibuko, Bheki Mazibuko, James Radebe and Mandla Ndima learned about saving.

Mazibuko said that they focused on prayer and conduct visits to the sick during their periods difficulty and that being part of an elderly citizens club can keep one’s mind free from stress.

The attendees of the meeting at the Welfare Centre were  invited to a Stokvel Indaba where they could anticipate receiving assistance on how to save for the year-end bulk buying season, group insurances and travel savings from various partners from the grocery, financial advisory and travel and leisure sectors.

Papi Rapolai, general manager for Wholesale and Stokvel at Pick n Pay said, “Members will also be inspired with budget recipe ideas for creating meals for large groups and receive education on how to get more value for money using specific grocery brands. Furthermore, there will be a free tasting of recipes using local brands.”

Deliwe Nhlapho of the Diepkloof Senior Citizens thanked everyone present after the indaba concluded.
