VIDEO: The Villa of Hope is entering the digital age

Villa of Hope sponsored with state-of-the-art PCs.

Access to quality and relevant education is one of the most important factors when it comes to developing young minds. Access to well-functioning computers and printers are luxuries that many do not have- no wonder the excitement amongst the children at the Villa of Hope during a computer handover ceremony on Tuesday 22 May that was organised by New Generation Management Consulting (NewGen).

The Villa of Hope, based in Nancefield Johannesburg, is a non-profit organisation registered with the Department of Social Development as a Child and Youth Care Centre.

The organisation focuses on the provision of superior care to children of all ages who have been orphaned or require alternative care due to abuse, neglect, abandonment and children that are affected or infected by HIV and AIDS or other ill circumstances.

NewGen has generously supported the Villa of Hope since 2010. The group’s founder and chief executive officer, Melvin Watkins, hails from Eldorado Park.

He completed his primary school career at Goudpark Primary School and matriculated from Kliptown High School before moving to Cape Town to complete his tertiary education in commerce.

Watkins has managed to build a company from the ground up that today has a presence in all major cities in South Africa, employing over 300 people and counting.
