Thumbs up to a cleaner Ndofaya!

Cleanup campaign.

A cleanup campaign is a community-based, environmental initiative that inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix and conserve their environment.

Councillors and the communities in Ndofaya implemented just such programmes to always keep their environment clean. This is an implementation they took upon themselves as this affects their surroundings and residents who live near the open fields.

The rubble communities collect can make a difference in the lives of recyclers who earn a living from collecting papers, plastics and boxes to generate an income.

Ace Rammego said, “The intention is to keep our open spaces clean because we care about the environment. We received complaints from residents because littering affects their health and the planet. ”

We hope that this initiative becomes an example to other zones that even though we came and helped them to revamp their open spaces, we need them to take good care of it.”

“Whenever you want to dispose of your litter, make sure that you are not depriving other citizens of their right to a clean environment that is not harmful to their health.

“Ensure that you are protecting the environment for the benefit of this and future generations. Zone Four residents have rehabilitated an open space which has been a problem to them by transforming it into a park so that it is kept clean at all times.”

“The problem is after cleaning the area the same people dump their refuse there again. “We should start implementing the bylaws to prohibit illegal dumping,” said Rammego.

Similar cleanup campaigns may benefit the community economically and socially if wisely implemented and regulated.

Communities may undertake waste projects in the form of environmental forums or clubs which may be developed by them.

For example, recycled waste may be delivered to companies in exchange for money for sustainability within the community and can uplift an area by way of providing alternatives to tackling the rising unemployment in townships.
