President’s Thuma Mina call gets Zola ANC walking

The Zone 8 committee unites its wards to share the fruits of healthy living

As an answer to president Cyril Ramaphosa’s call, the Zone Eight ANC constituency went on a 12 km hike this morning. Dubbed the ‘Thuma Mina Walk’, participants covered all the wards in Zone Eight, including Sojazam and Motlana which spanned six wards.

Aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and to make the ANC more visible, the event was attended by provincial speaker, Ntombi Mekgwe and ward councillor Fikile Motsamayi.

“We want to remind the community that the ANC is still alive, active and united.

“Over and above that, we want to engage the community and have an actual feel of the issues and challenges which exist in our community.

“Thus far we have seen many service delivery problems and we urge the community to bring those issues to the province and hold the mayor accountable because it is as though ANC councillors are not doing their jobs”, said Zone 8 zonal secretary, Steve Mahopo.

Going forward, the zonal committee is planning to continue hosting health walks in order to keep the Sojazam and Motlana communities active and healthy.
