The next stop is gold for young karate star from Diepkloof

According to her sensei, the though of quitting never entered her mind


The young female karateka from the Diepkloof Dynamite Karate Team (DDKT,) Mmasechaba Lechaba took part in the Karate South Africa League 1 Championships, the tournament was held in Bloemfontein at the Tempe Military Base.

The athletes who competed in these championships are the top ten ranked karateka in the country from all nine provinces in South Africa.

Mmasechaba Lechaba rose to the occasion once again and scooped a bronze medal in her kumite division.

Sensei Thabo Molubi of DDKT said, “I am super proud of this little girl, doors are now opening up for her. She has become a force to be reckoned with. It has been a very long journey for her and I am glad that she persevered.”

Not once did she ever think about quitting, according to the sensei.

Molubi said, “Lechaba is really putting Diepkloof on the map. In two weeks’ time, she will be competing in the Arnold Classic Karate Championships that will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre.”

It goes without saying that the upcoming competition will be a tough one for Lechaba as only the top ten ranked athletes in karate from the nine provinces will be taking part.

Molubi said, “I am glad that Mmasechaba is also ranked in the top ten.”

Between May 25 and May 26, Lechaba will be off to Botswana to represent South Africa in the AUSC Region 5 WKF Tournament.
