Killer sentenced to life for the murder of former manager of #SakhumziRestaurant,

The justice system plays is part.

It is important that the law enforcement agencies should sufficiently prepare for cases that go to court to secure a conviction and maximum sentence for those who break the law.

This was the view expressed by the Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane, after the sentencing of Njabulo Ngubane (24) for the murder of the former manager of Sakhumzi Restaurant, Khwesi Hudson, during an attempted robbery on Vilakazi Street in Soweto, on January 29, 2017.

Welcoming the sentence MEC Nkosi Malobane said, “It is extremely critical that our law enforcement agencies must do good preparatory work for cases to secure conviction of perpetrators during court appearances. I urge the Gauteng law enforcement agencies to continue to work diligently to protect the citizens of this province.

“We hope that the sentencing of this heartless criminal will send a strong message to criminals out there that the criminal justice system will not hesitate to impose harsher sentences to those found guilty of such atrocious crimes.

“Our hats are off to the officers at Orlando Police Station for the thorough investigation, arrest of the perpetrator and putting together a water-tight case.

“Our thoughts, prayers are with the Hudson and Sakhumzi families and we hope that they will finally find closure.”

Njabulo Ngubane was sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances, life for murder, ten years for illegal possession of a firearm and three years for illegal possession of ammunition.

The sentencing was handed down at the South Gauteng High Court on May 11.
