Helping young people make correct career decisions

Learners guided to a brighter future.

On the same day of the graduation ceremony and at the same venue Mo-Afrika Ithlokomele held a career exhibition to motivate young people in the community.

Exhibitors and stakeholders such as the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), South African National Council on Alcohol and Drugs (SANCA), City Year, and Harambee were present on the day of the event to guide and advice the youth. Learners from different High Schools in Pimville attended the event.

SANCA informed the youth about its aims and gave advice on how drug addicts can tackle their addiction.

“The event played a huge role in our lives because they taught us about the dangers of substance abuse, that education is a key to success and we learnt about the signs of a drug addict,” said Priscilla Tshabalala, one of the learners from Emshukantambo Secondary School.

Warrant officer J. Maleke from the South African Police Service (SAPS), who works with the Community Police Forum (CPF) and on community relations, was motivating and informing the youth that there are more than 122 careers in the Defense Department.

Local motivational also speakers placed testimonies at the event.

The main purpose of the event was for early exposure to different careers for learners, and an opportunity for them to apply in different institutions, for them to get an opportunity to ask stakeholders about what they specialise in.

Other people from the community attended the event, refreshments were served to guests and the exhibition was a huge success and an inspiration to the learners.

This year’s event was well attended.

Constable Buthelezi (SAPS Uniform) attended the event.

High Schools in Pimville released their learners early to attend the exhibition.
