WATCH: Simmone Smit’s prayers have been answered

New wheels, new lease on life!

Deborah Bartleson, 25-year-old Simmone Smit’s mother, had tear-filled eyes when her daughter finally received a wheelchair. Bartleson said that it has been six years that they have been struggling to get a mechanical wheelchair for Smit.

According to the family, Smit is even excited about getting out of bed lately because she can finally move around, although she cannot get into the chair on her own.

Smit is still a bit afraid of leaving the house in the mechanical wheelchair because she is not used to the wheelchair and is afraid that she might fall going down the ramp.

Now that she has her mechanical wheelchair and is mobile, she has put her hands back to work. She makes soap molds and bottles bath salts, a skill she learned back at school.

Smit hopes that she can one day secure a contract with a hotel of so her skills can be put to good use.

She is truly grateful for the wheelchair she has received and would like to say thank you to the people who donated it to her.
