Are you partaking in the SAFTU strike?
SAFTU says it is planning a huge strike today, April 25.
There’s a bit of a panic in Soweto as commuters remain in the dark regarding the planned strike by the South African Federation of Trade Unions [SAFTU]. The federation has been hinting on Twitter about how civil society is prepared to support the strike on April 25 [tomorrow].
Press Conference
Support is growing daily and we are confident that we shall bring S.A to a standstill & fill the towns & villages with angry workers, employed & unemployed, member of all unions or none, #SAFTUSTRIKE #Scrapnewlabourlaws#Defendtherighttostrike— SAFTU (@SAFTU_media) April 23, 2018
If nothing remains unchanged, public transportation could be affected as well. This is likely to be the case because SAFTU is planning to bring the country to a standstill.
On a tweet posted yesterday, the federation said, “On the 25th, SAFTU, its affiliates and our allies in civil society, will be on the streets of South Africa in a general strike in protest against the biggest attacks on working-class people.”
If you wish to get to work tomorrow, please be advised that confirming the availability of taxis would be of paramount importance and also, ask if attempting to get to work won’t put your life at risk.
We are mobilising the workers in particular against a ferocious declaration of war by the ruling class of white monopoly capitalists, who are trying to get Parliament to pass new laws which will entrench poverty#SAFTUSTRIKE #Scrapnewlabourlaws#Defendrighttostrike@Numsa_Media

The so-called ‘stay away’ posters have been posted on different corners. Radio stations and other mediums have been reporting on this issue since yesterday.
SAFTU president Mack Chabalala says R20 an hour is too little for workers to survive and to feed their families. Chabalala said this is one of the matters they’ll be raising come the day of the strike.
