The Glitter Effect (TGE) is a non-profit organisation whose main aim is to assist young girls and boys with clothing and accessories for their matric farewell.

TGE believes that everyone should have a shot at enjoying their matric banquet, regardless of their financial circumstances. The organisation is made up of five members and was established in August 2015.

Naeema Isaacs from TGE said, “Our purpose is to make their dream a reality.”

The team is a proud sponsor of the annual Miss Matric pageant which took place earlier this year.

TGE will be hosting a Mother’s Day buffet breakfast on Saturday, May 12 at 9 am in Eldorado Park, Extension Three at “The Stoep”.

Isaacs said, “We know a mother’s work is never done, so come along, sit down and have a breakfast fun with the mothers of our community.”

She added, “We will be having a special guest speaker at the breakfast and a dramatic performance by students from The National School of the Arts, a music item and games with amazing prizes to be won.”

The breakfast is one of the team’s annual fundraising events which will assist them in sponsoring underprivileged matriculants to have the right look for their matric farewell.

Isaacs said, “We accept donations like evening wear, heels, accessories and male suits. Fundraising events are done by the team members with assistance from friends and family.

“Our previous fundraisers include the Spur shadow shift evening, bake down Sundays, car washes and an auction evening.”

“To stand a chance to win double tickets to the Mother’s Day buffet breakfast, ‘Like’ our Facebook and Instagram pages, post a picture of yourself and your mum on the page and stand a chance to win,” said Isaacs.
