These are people who are fighting arthritis

Women unite in the fight against Arthritis.

Every Wednesday, Mofolo Hall hosts women who are suffering from Arthritis; this foundation was started by Sister Joyce Ncala a former nurse at Chris Hani Academic Hospital.

She started this foundation in 2001, two years after she retired from her job as a nurse in 1999. Arthritis is a disease-causing painful inflammation and stiffness of the joints. This condition can’t be cured but the treatment can help.

The foundation was formed to educate people about Arthritis and the importance of exercise and how exercise can benefit their body parts and bones. The Foundation also functions to spread awareness about Arthritis.

People who are Arthritic should consider joining the support group more especially people around Soweto to learn more about the condition and how they can conquer it as they will receive tips from experts as well as from other people who are fighting Arthritis.

People should not be ashamed to join Arthritis support group so they can get help and find out how it can be treated or maintained.

“People who have Arthritis need to exercise for at least three days a week not once a week and communication with your doctor is very important because you need to ask some questions regarding your health, people are always shy whenever they consult the doctors and as a result they end up not having more knowledge regarding their condition,” said Ncala.

According to one of the support group members, Sarah Tsoeu said the foundation has helped her because she no longer goes to the clinic. She gets emotional support, helping her with exercises and gets health tip.

“Exercise is very important as it increases immune system, makes the bones stronger and is good for the memory,” added Tsoeu.
