UPDATE:

Not even a week since the article about Simmone Smit was published and, already, she going to receive a mechanical wheelchair.

On Saturday, April 14, Smit’s luck will be changed around as she will be getting her wheelchair as well as a therapist who will look into helping her from here onwards.

The neurological disorder known as Cerebral Palsy is caused by a malformation that occurs while a child’s brain is still developing or sometimes it is caused by non-progressive brain injury during development.

Primarily the condition affects body locomotion as well as muscle coordination. Having cerebral palsy is a condition that defined but does not necessarily define the person living with the condition.

Cerebral Palsy is easily described as the loss or impairment of motor function, furthermore, it can be said that it is actually caused by brain damage before birth, during birth, or immediately after birth.

Simmone Smit is a 25-year-old who was born with cerebral palsy and by definition people consider her to be quite intelligent. Although her condition is caused by brain damage, it hasn’t affected her knowledge or sense of character.

Smit lives in Eldorado Park, Extension One at number 15 Piper Crescent and is happily married. However, things seem to be slightly difficult for her as her legs do not function and just like everyone else she needs to get around, to survive out here in a place called life.

Her speech is not as clear as it should be and it is quite difficult to understand her as she speaks, you really have to listen attentively.

Although she can’t be easily understood her hands are fully functional and which Smit uses to her advantage as she uses her hands to make things that could generate an income for her but even that is not enough to get her the wheelchair.

Smit has been bedridden for quite some time now as her previous mechanical wheelchair broke, due to lack of maintenance. She is in desperate need of a new mechanical wheelchair but she cannot afford it due to a shortage of finances.

Simmone Smit needs help getting a wheelchair.

If anyone can assist her with getting a wheelchair, it would be highly appreciated, on the other hand, there is a man who is willing to sell a wheelchair for a reasonable price of R 5 000.
