Pimville’s Thaba Jabula Sec & MM Mokone Memorial AME receive R150 000 each

The Motsepe Foundation gives back to Soweto.

Thaba Jabula Secondary School and the MM Mokone Memorial AME in Pimville have received some relief as the Motsepe Foundation donated over R8 million to different schools and churches in Soweto.

This event took place at the Regina Mundi Church in Soweto on March 27 and the Gauteng MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi received a monetary donation of millions from the Motsepe Foundation.

Thaba Jabula received donations for a multi-purpose shade port and MM Mokone memorial received donations for musical instrument and computer. In total, 37 beneficiaries benefited from these donations.



Among others, the donation was geared at improving Information Communication and Technology (ICT) and infrastructure at schools. different schools and churches from all over Soweto were part of the event and each school and church received a cheque worth R150 000.

Among other schools that benefited from the donations, there is Letsibogo Girls High School in Meadowlands for the revamping of Laboratory and Orlando West High School for the refurbishment of the Computer Centre and the library.

“I want to thank the foundation on behalf of everyone that is here, those who have given must be proud that we have developed our schools and our churches,” said Panyaza Lesufi.



“We are quite pleased that the Motsepe Foundation chose our schools, especially in Soweto, for upgrades. But most importantly to replace things that are normally stolen in our schools and also to provide the necessary guidance that our children need,” he said.

Speaking at the Regina Mundi the chairman of the Motsepe Foundation Patrice Motsepe‚ has encouraged the spirit of assisting the needy among South Africans.

“Many of our people have no jobs. Many of our people go to bed at night without food. Many of our young children go to high school‚ perform very well but have no money to go to university.

“Many of our people cannot get the good medical treatment they need. All of us must try in our very humble and small way to help because none of us can fix all the problems‚” he said.
