Spelling Bee, a competition for all brave learners

Spelling isn't as easy as it may seem.

Primary school students from various schools displayed their English skill and battled it out until the very end. Some left unhappy as they did not make it to the finals, others were ecstatic as they were crowned finalists. Each finalist received a certificate from Waiden Strachan just a few days after the competition ended.

Strachan and his team successfully hosted their spelling bee on Saturday, March 3. The spelling bee took place at ‘Seated with Christ in Heavenly places’ church in Michigan Street, Eldorado Park Extension Seven.

Strachan said, “The event was a success. We had lots of support from the church and the community which showed us a lot of support and also the vision that we have has been confirmed by this event as it opened up the doors of brilliance for us.

“Valentia Wilson said that a child with a book would not make her any happier. Wilson added that just the smile on a child’s face was enough for her.

Strachan continued, “I too share this vision with her that there’s nothing better than a child reading a book that makes us any happier.”

He also added that Pastor Daniel Gertse showed a lot of support as well as the judges who came out to support the initiative.

He concluded by saying, “Thank you to the parents who showed appreciation for what we do and want to achieve for our future leaders of tomorrow.”
