With many talks that community development rest on the hands of the very same citizens residing in that society, Soweto Universal Paint Manager Sam Dubazana is walking that talk.
With more than 25 years experience of working at the paint dealer hardware, Dubazana is now managing a painting franchise and aims to give back to the community the possible way he could.
Nonto Primary School is the first privileged school to receive Dubazanas’ compassion as he donated the paints to the school to give it a new look.

Caring and responsible parents supported the painting campaign by giving a hand in a painting of the school and they say it was a right thing to do.
Dubazana says there are plenty ways to call for unity in the community and also many ways to play our parts in the society we are living in.
“With lots to come, this is our first project and definitely not the last as we will continue to paint other schools around Soweto.

“This is another way of uniting the parents. Foremost, I have been in the hardware and paint industry long enough, and that was possible because of the community’s support hence today and going forward I will be giving back to the very same people who supported me on my journey to where I am today,” explained Dumazana.
Nonto Primary School Principal Busisiwe Mthethwa was overwhelmed with the support she got from the parents and the donation from the Universal Paint. “By today’s occasion, it is beyond doubt that when we stand together, nothing is impossible.
“The School Governing Body and the parents have been behind the school positive progress for as long as I can remember. They have been looking for sponsors to work with towards the school development.

“As happy as I am, I believe they are over the moon that we have this thing happening at our school today. All I can ask for is for this kind of togetherness to live forever because I believe that there are still more impressive things to come,” explained Mthethwa.
“We always wish and hope for a better future for our kids the support that we are giving here today by painting the school is just a symbol that we want nothing but a better tomorrow for our kids.
“I sometimes come here to clean the toilets. I am happy that today am part of the group that is painting here. This is the little we can offer for our community and that is what matters. I believe that when our kids are in a clean environment they will be motivated to do better in their studies,” explained Ntombenhle Mbothuma.
