Miss Universe is Unbreakable

South Africa’s very own Miss Universe, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters.

South Africa’s very own Miss Universe, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters said that her Miss Universe crown motivated her to do more work on her #Unbreakable campaign, which focuses on empowering women and teaching them self-defence against abuse.

Nel-Peters is South Africa’s second delegate to ever win the Miss Universe crown and with her victory, she intends to focus on her Unbreakable campaign this year.

So what is this #Unbreakable campaign about? Well, it’s about empowering women with skills and knowledge on how to handle difficult situations; such as abuse, violence against women and children.

Bongi Banda from PUSH said that they hosted Miss Universe on January 25, where she introduced her new campaign called #Unbreakable.

The #Unbreakable campaign aims to educate, uplift and empower South African Women. This is so that they can start and become capable of taking care of themselves as well as making the right choices.

Banda said, “So they visited the Choma Dreams Café, which is used at the PUSH Centre for young girls and young boys now. Miss Universe taught the girls how to defend themselves.”

Albert Houwana, a social auxiliary worker at PUSH said, “I believe that Miss Universe’s concept of looking at how to motivate these young women is a very good concept, and to her, I say big ups.

We are a part of Miss Universe – PUSH team.

“The reason for that is because in our country (South Africa) we face a lot of social issues that affect out young women and it demotivates them. These women face these social issues each and every day, social issues like teenage pregnancy, school dropouts, HIV, unemployment.

“So having a woman, who has also been down this road, identified the gap and has now filled it. With her personality and her being a lady, motivates these women on its own, so what more can she do?”

Houwana concluded by saying that they are a part of Miss Universe and that from PUSH, they all say thank you.
